Contest at Work

For Halloween this year my work held various contests.  One of them was a pumpkin carving contest, we were divided into teams (luckily I was on a team with all my fellow tech support friends).  We were given a pumpkin and told to carve it as a team or have someone take it home and carve it.

I decided I would take it home and carve it since we didn't have much time as a team.  I figured out a design we all wanted and had Cody help me carve it.  We stayed up until 12:30 carving it, but it was worth it.  At first I hated our pumpkin because it was so bumpy and wrinkly but i love it now!!  I haven't found out yet if we won, but I sure hope we do.  First place gets free lunch at Thanksgiving Point, second place gets lunch at JCW's, and third place gets lunch at Del Taco.  To be completely honest I would take lunch anywhere :)

Here are a few picture let me know what you think.

Family Home Evening and Cornbellys

Yesterday we invited my parents and my 3 younger siblings over to our house for Family Home Evening.  I made 2 different kinds of soup, and we had soup in bread bowls.  We then carved pumpkins, and I made homemade apple crisp for dessert.  We got done kind of late but it was worth it.

Good Things

Things have been going pretty good for us lately, and I am worried to get used to it for fear that everything won't keep going good.

Cody got a job at my work, so we can now carpool together.  Its a blessing that he was able to get a job so close to the end of his landscaping job he had.  It will be nice to have extra money and consistent pay.  We have also been very lucky to not struggle with money for the time being, so we can hopefully save some.

Oh ya...and I have been in the mood to sew, so I am going to sew some Christmas quilts, a table runner, stockings and a Christmas tree skirt.

We are going to Cornbelly's tonight so I will post some pictures later.

Projects and Ham Fried Rice

I have been in the mood to work on projects lately.  I have gone to DI several times and found cute shelves but I have never gotten them painted and hung up.  So last night while watching tv I decided to finally sit down and do it!!  My red window shelf thing is not done yet, I need to sand it and I am thinking of getting some screen stuff from Home Depot and putting it on the backs of the windows...I am not sure if I will do that yet or not.  Any suggestions are appreciated.  Also last night me and Cody made Ham Fried Rice for dinner!! It was pretty yummy I made the recipe up as I went.

Before
After pic, its right above our toilet but I am not sure what to put on it.  Any suggestions??

This is the red window shelf, I will post the after pic once I am done. (also I don't know how to rotate the image).

Apple Pie

I made apple pie filling, and after I am all done I will have a total of 25 quart jars!! I love apple pie so this is a very good thing.  Last night I decided to try out my newly bottled apples and I made a yummy apple pie for dessert.  However, I am not good at crimping the crust (anyone have any tips or suggestions let me know).  Anyways it was super yummy!!

Card Makin'

This past weekend we had 2 birthdays!! My mother in law and my sister in law, they came down from Layton and we visited ate (of course) and went bowling.  I was beating everyone, but I guess I was being to prideful because then I jumped from 1st place to 3rd.

I have been wanting to have a scrapbook night with Cody's little cousins Brooklyn and Lexi, so finally we were able to before all the birthday festivities.  I figured it would be easiest if I came up with a couple designs for cards and got all the pieces cut out and gave the girls all the pieces for the card and they could put it together how they wanted.

Cody's Grandma invited me to bottle apple pie filling that is to die for!!  And so she bought the apples and we finally had time yesterday, I was able to fill all my quart jars.  I have 12 jars of apple pie filling that will be so yummy in apple pie, apple crisp etc....mmmm I am making myself hungry.

Life is hard!

Life is so hard sometimes, well most of the time.  Me and Cody have been struggling with what we should be doing right now in our lives, money is always an issue and I wish it wasn't that way.  We have gotten family members opinions on what we should do, but it doesn't seem like its what WE want to do or what WE should do.  I am glad that I have a husband to help me along the way, because these difficult choices become a tad bit easier when you have someone there that you can rely on.

We are still not sure what we will do for school, but I know for sure that I want to be happy and hope that everything will work out, we need to learn to rely on the Lord and pray!!!

Wish us luck!!

So Many Changes!

So recently Cody and I have decided that we want to get school done and out of the way, but UVU is becoming so expensive and we both need a change of scenery.  We are still deciding if we want to move to Idaho and attend BYU-Idaho.  It would be fun but its so scary at the same time to go through so much change.

We would need to find a new job for each of us, find a cheap apartment, and get accepted into school.  My job is really great and I make pretty good money, and I am nervous that I won't be able to find anything comparable.  We are definitely going to talk some more about it, and pray.  Its a big change and it will affect the rest of our lives.

I am so glad that I have a wonderful spouse that can help me make these decisions.
